Tetley's Brewery Wharf was an new visitor centre built at
the Leeds brewery site, designed by Don Grant, working
closely with Leeds-based architects, Carey Jones, who
designed the innovative, circular building. It featured a
walk-through of inns and public houses through the ages,
which ranged from a 12th century ale-house, an Elizabethan
coaching inn, and Jacobean tavern to a Georgian drinking
club, a Victorian gin-palace and a war-time Edwardian pub.
There were also displays of pub memorabilia, shire horses
and pub games, as well as a themed retaurant, based around
barge transport on the adjacent River Aire. There was also
a childrens play area, themed around the famous Tetley's
Shire Horses.
